The meeting was held at Mikeska’s BBQ, (located on Hwy 59) El Campo, TX.
The chapter would like to thank Mikeska family for advertising our chapter meeting on their
new electronic color sign.
-
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm by chapter President, Joe McCreary (See photo below).
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and a prayer was given by chapter member, Richard Woods.
Joe then recognized all those members who were having birthdays in July, and Happy Birthday was sung by all.
The meeting was then temporarily adjourned so members could then go next door for a BBQ lunch.
-
There were 30 members & spouses that attended the meeting. This was our largest attendance so far this year.
Much thanks to all those who attended. Everyone seemed to be in a cheerful spirit and had a good time.
-
During the lunch period, chapter member, Richard Woods, gave a short presentation, speaking a bit about
his own life's problems and how he overcame them. It was very inspirational and was well received by everyone.
Much thanks to Richard for speaking to the membership and for his offer of help to anyone in the chapter
who made need help with their own life's issues.
-
Chapter Secretary/Treasurer, John Steelman, then took the floor and presented the chapter with a beautiful
Walnut Memorial plaque for our deceased members (see photo below). This new plaque replaces our previous framed Memorial
certificate, that was created by chapter member, Dana Sternadel. A big thanks to John for doing this for the chapter!
The plaque can hold 48 member's name plates. This is a wonderful way to honor our deceased members.
It was also mentioned that that our latest deceased member, David Juranek, passed away last week.

Unfortunately, the scheduled presentation by two Hospice care consultants had to be cancelled due to an
unforseen issue. The consultants offered to re-schedule the presentation for next month's meeting.
Photo below shows chapter Vice-President, Larry Monroe (far right), asking the membership if they want the consultants
to come to next month's meeting, and they all agreed to do so. Larry also mentioned how he and his wife
just recently had an experience with Hospice care and thought it was a really good idea to have someone
come to our meeting to speak about the issue of Hospice care.
Photo below shows everyone coming up after the meeting to look at the new Memorial plaque.
-
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
Next chapter meeting is: Wednesday, August 10, 2022, same place, same time.
Note that several special guests from Hospice Care will be attending the
August meeting to give a very interesting presentation regarding Hospice Care and the VA.
See you all there!
