VVA Chapter 1069 Meeting Report for: Feb 2-9-2022
[posted on: 2-13-2022]
-
The meeting was held at Mikeska’s BBQ, (located on Hwy 59) El Campo, TX.
The chapter would like to thank Mikeska family for advertising our chapter meeting on their
new electronic color sign. See photo above.
-
Chapter Presiedent, Joe McCreary opened the meeting at 6:00 PM (see photo below).
-
The Pledge of Allegiance to the flag was recited and a prayer was given.
-
After the meal, Joe re-opened the meeting at 6:45 PM
-
Joe then recognized all those members who were having birthdays in February, and Happy Birthday was sung by all.
-
Chapter member, Leonard Sternadel, then presented lots of information and led a discussion regarding the March 29,
Vietnam War Veterans Day Celebration to be held in Ammannsville, TX. See photo below. This even will include our
VVA chapter and four other local area VVA Chapters! Leonard has been in close contact with the Presidents of the
4 other VVA Chapters that will be participating in this event. Much thanks to Leonard for all his work on this project.
Please note that this event is for VVA Chapter members, spouses & special invited guests only!
Below are the items of interest about the event...
-
The chapter is not leasing big bus - they are too expensive. Although, we may either use Mike's bus (seats 13) or rent
one from a local limo service at $125 per hour (it seats about 20). There will be more information and discussion at
next month's meeting. Note that the event is over well before darkness set in so no one needs to drive at night - and
everyone should be home well before nightfall.
-
Money for the meals will be collected by members of our chapter on the day of the event. It will be $11 for each
member or $22 for a member & spouse.
-
5 local area VVA Chapters will be participating in the celebration:

Chapter member, Billy Orsak, presented findings and led a discussion on re-starting monthly group sessions for
our membership.
It was finally decided to try and restart group sessions on the first Thursday of the month.
This time however, the group will instead meet at the Veterans Service Officer's office in Wharton (instead
of the El Campo library, as before). We will be sending out more information about the next group session
as Billy sets up the schedule - stay tuned.
-
Chapter member, Bob Supak, again reminded everyone of our Chapter being selected to be part of the VVA National 2022 Calendar,
for the month of September! And because some of our membership never have received their VVA 2022 calender, he also brought printouts
of the calendar's month of Setptember for those members who did not get their calendar. If you want to print out your own
month of September as a rememberance, use the two links below to view & print yourself a copy. Remember, in September of
this year, there will be thousands of VVA members across the nation (650+ VVA Chapters) seeing something wonderful that VVA Chapter
1069, in little old El Campo, Texas, has done - it is something to be very proud of.
The full report of our chapter's entry into the VVA National's 2022 Calendar contest may be found here:
