VVA Chapter 1069 Meeting Report for: Jan 1-10-2018

The meeting was held at Mikeska’s BBQ, El Campo, TX.
-
The following Board members were present: Sternadel, Steelman, F. Kulcak, Mahlmann, Woods, and Supak.
-
There were 39 members and 10 guests present.
-
President Leonard Sternadel declared the meeting open at 1900 hours and the following business was transacted.
-
Sternadel informed the group that David Haas, Life Member from Eagle Lake, recently passed away.
David was a veteran of both the Korea and Vietnam conflicts. He was a solid member and contributed
to the functions of the Chapter. He will be missed.

The Pledge of Allegiance to the flag was recited and a prayer was said.

Sternadel then introduced special guest Patty Jensen and her two grandchildren. Also in attendance was
Calvin Mahlmann’s grandson, Allen Jeffrey who was a TSC scholarship recipient.

The meeting was then recessed for the meal and reconvened at 1945.

Sternadel then introduced Patty Jensen. Ms. Jensen stated she was a member of the
Wharton County Daughters of the American Revolution Society (DARS), Comfort Wood Chapter
,and was present to inform Sternadel that he has been selected to receive the Outstanding Veteran Volunteer Award for this area.

Also, he is now eligible to receive the Texas Outstanding Veteran Voluntary Award.
CONGRATULATIONS TO LEONARD FOR THIS AWARD AND ALL HIS HARD WORK!

The minutes of the last meeting were approved as presented.

Dwight Winkler’s handout contained the contact information for various persons involved with veteran’s benefits.

Sternadel informed the Chapter that the TSC scholarship applications were available.
Please Note: The Deadline for entering the Scholarship program is March 1, 2018.

He also stated that each member could decide if they wanted more of their personal information included in the national directory.

The next TSC (VVA Texas State Council) meeting will be held in El Paso, April 6 – 7. Contact Steelman if you are interested in attending.
