VVA Chapter 1069 Meeting Report for: Aug, 8-10-2016

The monthly VVA chapter 1069 meeting was held in the big banquet room at Mikeska's BBQ (located on Hwy 59), in El Campo, TX.

VVA Chapter 1069 President, Leonard Sternadel, declared the meeting open at 1900 hours and the following
business was transacted.
-
The Pledge of Allegiance to the flag was recited and a prayer was said.
-
The following Board members were present: Sternadel, Steelman, F. Kulcak, Laitkep, Neumann
and Supak.

Sternadel then introduced Larry Ferree as a prospective member.

The meeting was then recessed for the meal and reconvened at 1945.

The minutes of the last meeting were approved as presented.

Our own VSO, Dwight Winkler, was absent from the meeting due to having knee
replacement surgery. We wish him a speedy recovery!

Sternadel then covered the following topics:

The Mobile Service Office of the DAV will be at the El Campo Fire Department, 220 Merchant Street, Monday, August 22,
from 9:00AM - 5:OOPM.

Sternadel thanked all those chapter members who attended and helped out with "Congressman Farenthold's
Veteran's Summit" event, that was held in Victoria on Saturday, July 23, 2016.

Sternadel informed the Chapter that the Board of Directors are currently reviewing the bylaws and will be bringing the
updated document to the members at the next meeting.

He also reminded the Chapter that the "Tribute to Vietnam Veterans" Program, will be held
tomorrow, August 11, 2016. at the Wharton County Museum, from 2:00PM - 4:00PM.

Also, there will be a free fishing tournament for all Purple Heart recipients this Friday, August 12 thru August 14 at
Schicke Point.

The "National Guard Family Day" will be at Ryan's Lake, (FB Helen) Saturday, September
10, 2016. All are invited and workers will be needed so mark your calendars.

Sternadel also informed the Chapter that Ed Kulcak has resigned as a director due
to an increased work load. The Board will move forward with a replacement.

Sternadel added that a high school student's research paper was available for review.

The National Membership Affairs Committee (MAC) report stated Texas had lost 2 members.

The National "Faces Never Forgotten" program needs photos. In an effort to further preserve
the legacy of those who sacrificed all in Vietnam, VVMF is committed to finding a photo to go with each of the more than
58,000 names on The Wall. The Wall of Faces allows family and friends to share memories, post pictures and connect with
