[posted on: 6-6-2016]
-
The monthly VVA chapter 1069 meeting was held in the big banquet room at Mikeska's BBQ (located on Hwy 59), in El Campo, TX.
-
President Leonard Sternadel declared the meeting open at 1900 hours and the following business was transacted.
-
The Pledge of Allegiance to the flag was recited and a prayer was said.
-
Sternadel then introduced David Mata and Clarence Kunz as prospective members for the chapter.
"WELCOME HOME" David!
"WELCOME HOME" Clarence!
-
The meeting was then recessed for the meal and reconvened at 1945.
-
Before the meeting got underway, Gerry Mikeska, owner of Mikeska's BBQ, requested that all Chapter members help
him raise the BIG flag that's located out in front of the BBQ restaurant.
Everyone attending the meeting went outside to help raise the flag.
It was an honor for the membership to help raise the flag.
Much thanks goes out to Gerry Mikeska for allowing the Chapter 1069 membership to help with the flag raising.

This is the only one presented in the state.

The following additional topics were then covered:
-
The annual fish fry will be held at the Sternadel's Saturday, May 14th.
-
The annual chapter "Stand Down" event will be held at Firebase Helen, Saturday, June 11th.
-
The VVA TSC meeting that was held in Victoria last month was attended by Sternadel, Steelman, Ron Miller and Randy Ratcliff.
Also, Stephen Brady, the state secretary at the time, was present. We are all proud that Stephen threw his hat into the ring
and ran for TSC president. There was a lot of support for him because changes need to be made at the state level.
Maybe we can "gettum" next time.
-
The 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War was held in Austin April 26-28. Leonard and Stephen attended various sessions
and stated they were very informative.
-
Sternadel informed the group that he will be attending a conference in July held by Congressman Farenthold.
If you have any issues please let him know.
-
Sternadel also informed the group that the bylaws are being updated.
-
There being no further business, President Sternadel declared the meeting adjourned at 2045.
-
The Meeting Minutes were provided by: John F. Steelman, VVA Chapter 1069 Secretary & Treasurer - Thanks John!
