ECISD Veterans Day Parade - El Campo Texas - November 11, 2022
[posted on: 11-27-2022]
The El Campo ISD again hosted a Veterans Day parade for the second year in El Campo, Texas.
Chapter members, Carolyn & Louis Milder, have sent us pictures they took at the parade.
Members of VVA Chapter 1069 attended and participated in the parade. Much thanks to Carolyn
Milder for taking the photos shown on this webpage.
The parade was held on Friday, November 11, 2022, from 8:15 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
The Veterans met at the El Campo Civic Center parking lot at 8:10 a.m., and the paraded
started at 8:15 a.m., with the El Campo High School Band performing the “Star Spangled Banner”
and “TAPS” to honor fallen soldiers. Veterans then followed the parade leader to each El Campo
ISD campus, including the St. Philips Catholic School.
Some of our Veterans, decorated their cars for the parade. Most parade participants stayed in their
vehicles while they were being recognized for their service as they passed each school campus.

Above photo shows the huge Army vehicle that belongs to local resident and Vietnam Veteran, Joe Freeman. Joe is a big
supporter of our chapter and has let our chapter members ride on his Army truck and trailer for last year's
Veterans Day parade.
Above photo shows VVA chapter 1069 members Harold Piekert (red cycle) and Augie Limas (purple cycle), along with
their 3-wheeled motorcycles.
Much thanks to Harold & Augie for riding their cycles and flying our chapter flag in the parade!
Both cycles carried an array of patriotic flags on the back.
The above photo & article was taken from the El Campo Leader Newspaper. Shown in the photo are 3 of our chapter
members - Louis Milder (3rd from the left), George McKelvy (2nd from the right), and Augie Limas (far right).
They are our chapter celebrities of the month!
The pictures below are a sample of the partiotic cards what the school children handed out to the veterans as the parade
passed their schools. Much thanks to chapter members, Carolyn & Louis Milder, for sending the pictures to us.
The VVA Chapter 1069 Officers want to thank all those members & spouses that participated in the parade and helped
get some exposure of our chapter to the El Campo residents. It is much appreciated.
